Quiksilver Pro France, September 20th - 30th, South West of France
The upsets on the Foster’s ASP World Tour continue. Welcome to shralp surf episode 39. After the elimination galore of favorites in Trestles, Kelly Slater and Andy Irons were the most prominent victims at the 2007 edition of the Quiksilver Pro France. They both lost in round three, Kelly to wildcard Michel Bourez from Tahiti, Andy to Luke Munro. The biggest surprise of the event wasn’t an upset though. It was Greg Emslie from South Africa, reaching the first WCT final of his career. In the final Emslie had to face current world number one Mick Fanning though, who left the South African no chance and clinched his second win of the season. Going into the Billabong Pro at Mundaka, which starts on the second of October, Mick is first, Kelly second, Taj third, Parko fourth and Andy fifth. And stay tuned, cause Mick could claim the crown in the Basque country. //

Billabong Cloud 9 Invitational, September 24th - 30th, Siargao Island, Philippines
What happens if you invite a couple of great tube riders to a great surf spot and get great conditions? You are on Cloud 9. That’s what happened to Billabong who organized an invitational contest at Cloud 9 on Siargao Island in the Philippines.
Winner of the event was Wade Goodall who beat his fellow countryman Nick Vasicek.

Boost Mobile Pro pres. by Hurley Foster’s ASP World Championship Tour
What can happen if you throw two of the hottest young surfers who just qualified for next year’s WCT as wildcards into an event at Lowers? Exactly, major upsets. Welcome to shralp surf episode 38. Dane Reynolds and Jordy Smith together eliminated four Top 45 surfers ranked in the top 5 of the ASP ratings. Dane disposed of Taj Burrow and Mick Fanning, Jordy of Joel Parkinson and Andy Irons. And even though neither Jordy nor Dane made it past round three, the world title campaign just became a whole lot more difficult for the likes Taj, Andy and Joel. Winner of the event was Kelly Slater who won his first contest in over a year. The victory marks Slater’s 34th ASP World Tour win and earns him the record for the most elite tour event victories in history. Former three-time ASP World Champion Tom Curren (USA) set the record with his 33rd event win 16 years ago. //
