TTR 6* Oakley Arctic Challenge

For all those who could not watch it live, we stalled this episode to get you the finals from the Oakley Arctic Challenge! Welcome to shralp! episode 145 from March 7th 2010. Welcome to almost 10 minutes of gnarly riding, a new TTR World Champ and a video competition at the end.
The Oakley Arctic Challenge can be easily summarized with these sentences:
Mikkel Bang secured a third place with a trademark laidback and stylish run.
Torstein Horgmo, after two falls, picked himself up and nailed his third run. But only a few riders later Peetu Piiroinen really showed us the goods, and secured the win.
And this win has a lot of impact: The Oakley Arctic Challenge is a TTR 6 Start event and Peetu, with a second place at the Air and Style, winning both European Open events and placing 3rd in both Evolution contest now collected enough points to become the 2010 TTR World Champion. Despite the fact there is still one more TTR 6 Start - The US Open - he remains unbeatable.
Congrats Peetu - the first rider who took the World title twice!

Freeride World Tour Nissan Tram Face

The Freeride World Tour stopped in Squaw Valley, California last weekend. Check out this winning run from Xavier de Le Rue including a gnarly double cliff. BTW at the Olympic Boardercross - ah sorry - Snowcross 12 days earlier Xavier just made the 19th. Guess this shows where he’s really good at.

The North Face Masters

Kirkwood, Ca / Feb 25 - 27, 2010

More Freeriding: Kirkwood, California was the final stop of The North Face Masters.
After a stormy first day with an extra 2 feet of snow, the day of the finals had excellent conditions.
Ralph Backstrom of Squaw Valley, California, finished third place with a strong and powerful run.
Kirkwood’s own Joe Forest took second place by following winner Robinson’s line into an area with mandatory 35-foot cliff drops.
Aaron Robinson of Big Mountain, Montana, took the podium and also the unbelievably-sharp Japanese sword made for each winner of this 3 stop tour. I also hope someone gave him some sun blocker to protect his face with in the future.

Action Sport Video Portal and Video Contest

Planet Tirol is a new and unique Action Sports video platform. The cool thing is, all clips are geo tagged so you can see exactly where the action has been filmed. Amateur crews and also pro crews like Die Ästhetiker or the Pirates upload their clips filmed in Tirol, Austria. The idea is on the one hand support ambiguous film crews and on the other hand show the best lines, parks and spots in that region. The site also regularly host contest; and the current one is called “Spot Check”. All you have to do is upload or embed a video clip you shot from your favorite spot in Tirol: park, resort, backcountry, you name it.
