The World Title is back in Australia! Welcome to shralp surf episode 42. After eight long years, the last Australian world champ was Occy in 1999, the title is back Down Under. The 2007 ASP World Champ is Mick Eugene Fanning from Tweed Heads on the Gold Coast. Going into the second last event of the year, The Hang Loose Pro, the only two surfers able to steal the crown of Mick were Kelly Slater and Taj Burrow. But after Kelly lost in round four to Kai Otton and Taj in the quarters to Tom Whitaker, the deal was sealed for Fanning, who also took out the event. Congratulations Mick! //

I’m pretty sure you’ve seen someone stand-up paddling if you live on the coast. Maybe you even caught the fever. Fact is, they are everywhere these days. Another fact is that it is a lot of fun in the right conditions and that it is a great work out for the entire body. But please, if you’re in the beginning stages, keep away from crowded peaks.
