Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards

April 11th 2008 / California
Ladies and Gentleman, we present you the winners of the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards. Welcome to shralp surf! episode 53. Winner of the paddle in award is Californian Greg Long for this wave surfed at the Cortez Bank off the coast of Southern California. The biggest wave was surfed by Mike Parsons, also at Cortez Bank. The wave is estimated at over 70 feet, which means that this is the biggest recorded wave ever ridden. The ride of the year award went to Hanwaiian Shane Dorian for this layback barrel into cart wheel exit at Teahupoo. Other awards include the best male overall performance which went to Greg Long and the best female performance which was awarded to Maya Gabeira from Brazil.
