Rip Curl Pro Search - Somewhere in Indonesia

July 30 - August 10, 2008
It’s done Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to shralp surf! episode 62. Kelly Slater has finally been beaten by one of his fellow Top 45 campaigners. The surfer to beat Kelly in round three of the Rip Curl Pro Search Somewhere in Indonesia was rookie Tiago Pires who in the end finished third in the event. Unfortunately, Kelly’s close rivals couldn’t capitalize from the King’s early elimination because neither Mick, nor Bede nor Joel made it past round 4. The question isn’t IF Kelly wins his 9th world title, it is just when and where. Winner of the Rip Curl Search event was Bruce Irons who claims his maiden WCT win in his last year on tour. Bruce will retire at the end of the year to focus on taking photos and filming.
Next up is the Boost Mobile Pro presented by Hurley beginning of September at Trestles.
